HUSH Hollow Boss Loadout: Prepare for Chief and Mayor

Last updated:

Taking on both the Chief and Mayor in The Hollow means carrying enough ammunition and medical supplies while staying mobile. Plan your reserves around the raid conditions, then match each boss’s card to your next destination.

AT A GLANCE

For a Nightmare night run targeting both bosses, start with at least about 400 rounds. Consider about 500 if you lack confidence, or about 600–700 when Outbreak is active. Bring plenty of medical supplies and balance the extra weight against movement speed. Staff Card opens Security HQ; the Chief’s Black Card is for Director’s Escape Tunnel, while the Mayor’s Red Card opens the director’s door above D21.

Ammo Targets for a Chief and Mayor Run

For a Nightmare night run targeting both the Chief and Mayor, use these ammunition reserves as preparation targets:

Planned conditions Suggested ammunition
Two-boss attempt At least about 400 rounds
Low confidence in completing both fights About 500 rounds
Outbreak active, with both bosses planned About 600–700 rounds

These are total preparation targets for the attempt, not amounts to add together. They are neither entry requirements nor fixed ammunition costs. Different weapons and ammunition types should not be assumed to deliver the same results from the same round count.

Outbreak adds more infected, so the larger reserve accounts for enemies you may face alongside the bosses. Choose the target that fits your conditions, then balance it against the medical supplies and weight tradeoffs below. For ammunition sources and weapon slots, see the weapons and ammo guide.

Balance Medical Supplies and Carry Weight

Bring plenty of medical supplies alongside your ammunition. Excessive carried weight reduces movement speed, making a heavier reserve a real tradeoff when you need to reposition during a fight.

  • Reserve space for medical supplies before filling the remaining storage with ammunition or optional equipment. Use the healing guide to choose supplies for bleeding and health recovery.
  • Consider leaving the secondary weapon behind in this ammunition-heavy setup if you do not need it. That is a weight-saving choice for this plan, rather than a rule for every loadout.
  • Leave room for cards, useful supplies, and valuables collected during the run. Avoid treating every empty slot as space that must be filled before deployment.

If storage layout is limiting what you can bring, use the inventory guide to organize your carried items. More supplies help only while you can still move effectively enough to use them.

Recognize the Chief and Mayor

The Chief

Look for a dark uniform and white cap in Security HQ, in the southeastern part of The Hollow. Bring a Staff Card to open HQ before committing to the Chief route. Guards wearing security-style clothing and carrying flashlights can drop that card, but each guard is not guaranteed to have one.

Use the Hollow map guide to locate HQ and the keycard guide for card-search details.

The Mayor

The Mayor is Ellen Whitmore, recognizable by her red suit. Her information card lists BOSS, FAST, HEAVY damage, and SHARP HEARING. She can sprint, so preserve room to move rather than letting the fight push you into a confined position.

When “She heard you” appears, she has heard you and is heading directly toward you. Treat it as a cue to prepare for her approach and reposition while you have space. Keep an open path behind you instead of relying on a single doorway to hold her off.

The Mayor approaches through a doorway while the She heard you warning is active.

Match Boss Cards to Your Next Route

The two boss cards lead to different destinations:

Card Boss source Destination
Black Card The Chief’s remains; a Nightmare night loot example Director’s Escape Tunnel in southwestern Hollow
Red Card The Mayor The director’s door above D21

Plan the tunnel extraction around Black Card. Red Card’s director-door access does not replace the tunnel’s Black keycard requirement. Choose a backup exit before the fights so your departure does not depend entirely on obtaining the Chief’s card; compare the alternatives in the Hollow extraction guide.

The Chief’s remains have also yielded 5.56 AP and valuables in a Nightmare night encounter. Check for useful supplies after the fight, but pack your starting reserve without counting on that ammunition being available. Those items were part of one loot result, rather than a guaranteed replenishment package.

If gold weapons are your main reason for choosing a target, use the separate Chief and Old Mine loot comparison.
