HUSH Gold Weapons: Chief and Old Mine Loot Routes

For gold weapons in The Hollow, choose between a dedicated Chief run and a search of the Old Mine Looter area. Your supplies, access cards, and current route should determine which opportunity to pursue.
Prioritize the Chief at Security HQ if you are prepared for a boss fight and have a Staff Card to enter. Old Mine's Looter area offers a small chance of finding a gold weapon along your route. Neither option guarantees a gold drop.
Prioritize the Chief for a Dedicated Gold Run
The Chief is the recommended first target when gold weapons are your main objective, but a kill does not guarantee a gold drop.
Find Security HQ in southeastern The Hollow and bring a Staff Card to open it. The Chief wears a dark uniform and a white cap. Defeat him and search his remains for loot. See the Hollow keycard guide for the Staff Card acquisition route.
Bring ammunition and medical supplies before committing to the fight. If you also plan to fight the Mayor on Nightmare at night, the starting recommendation is at least 400 rounds for the two-boss attempt. That is a preparation recommendation for both bosses, not a Chief-only ammunition requirement. Use the Chief and Mayor preparation guide for adjustments to that loadout.
Search the Old Mine Looter Area
Searching the Looter area at Old Mine offers a small chance of finding a gold weapon. It makes sense as an additional search when your route already takes you through the mine, rather than a reason to force a boss fight with an unprepared loadout.
Looters carry AKs. You can bypass them or fight them and search their bodies. A Marksman is a Looter variant equipped with a sniper rifle; these armed enemies are distinct from ordinary infected and the Chief.
If you choose to fight:
- Defeat the Looters before approaching their bodies.
- Move within interaction range. If bodies overlap, use the mouse wheel or displayed target-selection controls to select the body you want to search.
- Press F at the SEARCH prompt to search the selected body.
Treat the area's gold opportunity as a reason to search, not a guaranteed reward from each Looter. For help finding your way through the underground areas, use the Hollow map guide.
Choose by Combat Readiness, Then Plan Extraction

A run can yield two gold weapons or none, so avoid planning around a fixed number of attempts. The Mayor is a lower priority for a gold-focused run.
Choose an exit before extending your search. If you obtain a Black Card from the Chief, it meets the card requirement for Director's Escape Tunnel in southwestern The Hollow.
