HUSH Infection: What to Do After a Bite
Last updated:
A zombie bite can cause infection in HUSH. If you notice blurred screen edges afterward, make leaving Stillwater your priority.

Avoid another bite, look for an antiviral item, and start moving toward an exit whose requirements you can meet. Press M to choose your route: Highway Roadblock is always open, Hospital Helipad requires a flare on the pad, and Smuggler’s Boat requires $2,000. If you are also bleeding, use a Bandage first, then Pills if you need health.
Prioritize Leaving and Avoid Another Bite
Bites can cause infection, and blurred screen edges can be a symptom. Another bite may sharply shorten the time you have left, so treat infection as a reason to end your loot run.
- Move away from the infected. Avoid unnecessary close combat. If you are being followed, close doors behind you and keep moving.
- Start heading toward a usable exit. Choose it using your location and the supplies you already carry, as explained below.
- Look for an antiviral item while working toward extraction. Keep this search secondary to getting out; do not turn it into an extended detour through more enemies.
For help managing enemies along your route, see the stealth and chase guide.
Choose an Exit with the Supplies You Have
Press M to open the Town Map. Locate your blue dot, check Marked Exits, and compare your position with the exit requirements below.
If you have neither a Flare nor the $2,000 boat payment, prioritize Highway Roadblock. If you already have a Flare and are near the southeast Hospital, consider the Helipad. If you are near the eastern river and can meet the payment requirement, consider Smuggler’s Boat. Choose a route you can reach and prepare for with your current supplies.
Click your chosen exit to ping it for your squad, then follow the waypoint. Watch the raid clock as you travel—you still need to reach an exit before it runs out.
For additional preparation details, see extraction points and requirements.

Treat Bleeding as a Separate Problem
Check for Bleeding as well as infection symptoms. Bleeding continues to drain health and needs its own treatment:
- Use a Bandage to stop bleeding. Check that the Bleeding indicator disappears.
- Use Pills if you need to restore health. Right-click Pills in your inventory and select Use.
Stopping bleeding and restoring health do not mean the infection has been treated. Do not rely on Bandages or Pills as antiviral treatment; keep working toward your exit.
If you need more medical supplies, the healing guide covers where to look and how to use them.
